Public Diplomacy Forum 2015: 4th International Conference on Public Diplomacy in China-Europe Relations opened in Berlin on October 8.

With the theme of "global public goods and public diplomacy," the forum was co-organized by China's Charhar Institute, Germany's Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen(ifa), and the Netherland's Clingendael Institute.

Yao Yao, director of the Research Department of the China Public Diplomacy Association, said during the forum that public diplomacy means facing up to the people.

"At present, the world's people, including Europeans, are more and more interested in a multi-polarized world order," Yao said, "Chinese and European people now realize that cooperating with each other is more and more meaningful for a better world."

"However, both opportunities and challenges exist for public diplomacy between the two sides. What we should do is actually quite simple. First, we need to better understand each other. Second, we need to do good deeds together for the whole world," said Yao.

More than 40 experts from China, the Netherlands, Germany, the United States, the UK, France, Austria, India, Japan and South Korea participated in the two-day event. The forum closed on October 9.
