Jan Melissen

Jan Melissen is a Senior Research Fellow at the Netherlands Institute of International Relations 'Clingendael' in The Hague and Professor at the University of Antwerp. He held various management positions at Clingendael (2001-12) and was previously affiliated with the University of Leicester (UK). He has been a visiting scholar at China's Foreign Affairs University. He is founding co-editor of The Hague Journal of Diplomacy and editor of the Diplomatic Studies book series with Martinus Nijhoff. Professor Melissen is currently working with several national governments on the subject of change in diplomatic practice. His projects are on diplomacy in the digital age, MFA networking, consular diplomacy, and public diplomacy. In China he has published in a number of leading journals. His latest co-edited book is Understanding Public Diplomacy in East Asia (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2015).
