Chinese and South Korean experts shared opinions at a round table focused on China's "Belt and Road" Initiative and South Korea's Eurasia Initiative in Beijing on Nov. 27.

A round table focusing on China's "Belt and Road" Initiative and South Korea's Eurasia Initiative was held in Beijing on Nov. 27.

The meeting, the 36th round table of the Charhar Institute, was co-organized by South Korea's Yeouido Research Institute and the International Culture Exchange Institute.

Ke Yinbin, secretary-general and senior fellow of the Charhar Institute, said at the meeting that the connection point of China's "Belt and Road" Initiative and South Korea's Eurasia Initiative is the concept of "common modernization." The two countries should work together to set up a research group in the future to discuss the issue.

Nak-Geun Jung, chief of the policy research office of the Yeouido Research Institute, thought that the key to implementing China's "Belt and Road" Initiative and South Korea's Eurasia Initiative is properly dealing with the DPRK and ROK relations. He believed that the establishment of the Northeast Asia Bank would benefit both China's northeast provinces and North Korea.

Zhao Kejin, an associate professor of Tsinghua University and senior researcher from China's Charhar Institute, said, "Compared to state power, social power is more important. The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed between China and South Korea will contribute to building a social network between the two countries, which will improve bilateral cooperation in the future."
